Play Eight Off Solitaire Online for Free

Eight Off is a solitaire game for players who like a plan. It works like FreeCell, with two changes that shape every move. You get eight free cells instead of four, and you build in the same suit only. Play Eight Off Solitaire free at Solitaire.com, with no downloads or sign-up.

Eight Off Overview and Objective

The goal is to move all 52 cards to the four foundations. Each foundation builds up in one suit, from Ace to King. Every card starts face up, so you can plan several moves ahead.

Eight Off Setup and Layout

The deck is dealt into eight tableau columns of six cards each. The last four cards go into four of the eight free cells, so the game starts with four cells open.

How to Play Eight Off

  • Build tableau columns down in the same suit, such as 9 of Hearts on 10 of Hearts.
  • Move any top card into an empty free cell. Each cell holds one card.
  • Only a King, or a same-suit run headed by a King, can fill an empty column.
  • You can move a same-suit run as a group when there are enough empty free cells to hold it. With two empty cells, you can move a run of three cards.

Eight Off Strategy Tips

Free cells are your main resource, so keep at least two of them empty whenever you can. Play Aces and Twos to the foundations early, since they block the cards stacked above them. Before you empty a column, check that a King is ready to move in. An empty column can only take a King, so it stays useless until one arrives.
