Play Yukon Solitaire Hard Version for Free

Yukon Solitaire Hard Mode keeps the classic Yukon layout and changes one rule. Tableau builds must follow suit. A card may only be placed on a card one rank higher of the same suit.

That single change removes half of your building options on every card. It also doubles your final score.

What Changes in Hard Mode

In normal Yukon, you build down in alternating colors. The 9♥ can land on the 10♠ or the 10♣.

In Hard Mode, you build down by suit. The 9♥ can only land on the 10♥. Every card in the deck has exactly one legal home instead of two.

Everything else works the way it does in normal Yukon:

  • All 52 cards are dealt into seven columns before your first move. There is no stock pile.

  • You can move any face-up card along with every card stacked on top of it. Those cards can be out of order.

  • Foundations build by suit from Ace to King.

  • Only a King fills an empty column.

  • Face-down cards flip on their own once uncovered.

Why One Rule Makes It So Much Harder

Same-suit building is the rule that defines Russian Solitaire, and Hard Mode plays by it. The win rates tell the story. Player data puts normal Yukon near 12% to 14%. Russian Solitaire sits at about 2.5% to 3%. Expect to lose far more deals than you win, even with careful play.

The reason is what group moves cost you. Every stack you move buries whatever it lands on, and with only one legal target per card, a buried card is much harder to dig out again.

Hard Mode Strategy

  1. Turn over face-down cards first. Twenty-one cards start hidden, and each reveal adds new legal moves.

  2. Check the suit before every group move. A move that looks safe in normal Yukon can lock the board here.

  3. Guard your empty columns. A freed column with a King ready to take it is the strongest position in the game.

  4. Send Aces and 2s to the foundation as soon as they appear.

  5. Use the undo button to test a move and see what it buries before you commit.

Double Score

Hard Mode multiplies your entire final score by 2, compared with 1.5 in normal mode, on top of the time bonus for finishing fast.
